Partner, Stephanie Wylie, will present oral argument before Florida’s Third District Court of Appeal on April 3, 2017. The issues on appeal include whether to enforce the foreign forum selection clause in the seafarer’s employment agreement. The Latin American seafarer claims that designating the flag state of Malta for dispute resolution is so unreasonable and inconvenient that it effectively deprives him of a remedy. We are hopeful to persuade the appellate court to affirm the trial court’s order enforcing the foreign forum selection clause and dismissing the claim. We look forward to sharing the opinion once rendered.
